BOTOX® Cosmetic (Botulinum Type A) Treatment

BOTOX® (botulinum type A) is a purified protein toxin that is derived from a specific form of bacteria. Used properly, BOTOX® Cosmetic can soften or remove the natural wrinkles between the eyes (frown lines), on the forehead and at the sides of the eyes (crow's feet). This use can provide younger looking skin without surgery.

In this virtually painless procedure, minute quantities of BOTOX® are administered directly into the affected muscles, diminishing the fine lines and wrinkles caused by repeated muscle contractions from years of smiling, frowning and other facial expressions.

The effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic generally last 3-6 months and treatment can be enhanced. Many people have found that over time, the muscles have permanently relaxed or they have broken the habit of frowning or squinting which originally led to the formation of those lines, and they require fewer treatments.
